Why register your nickname? A guide to pseudonymous FlirtLabz accounts

What a free registered nickname unlocks across chat and Community, what stays private, and what guests should know about incognito browsing.

You do not need an account to enter FlirtLabz. Guest chat is intentional: choose an available nickname, join a room, and decide later whether you want anything more permanent.

What registration gives you across FlirtLabz

A nickname that belongs to you

  • Protect your nickname with a password so another person cannot simply take your established identity.
  • Verify an email address and use it for password recovery.
  • Attach additional nicknames to the same account when you want recognised alternatives.

One pseudonymous identity for chat and Community

  • Use the same NickServ account to sign in to Webchat and the Community site.
  • Keep an avatar, profile text, interest tags, gender and orientation choices, optional Pride flags, and nickname colour with your account.
  • Take part in Forum discussions, follow members or content, save items, and receive Community notifications.
  • Use contribution tools such as Gallery or Knowledge Hub submissions when your account has the relevant access.

IRC features that need a lasting identity

  • Send and receive stored MemoServ messages, including when the other person is offline.
  • Enter rooms limited to registered users and receive persistent channel roles or invitations.
  • Register a channel with ChanServ, manage its access, and use supported BotServ features.
  • Choose Bouncer mode for an encrypted replay and a connection that can remain parked for up to two hours. This is temporary continuity, not a permanent message archive.

Can I stay anonymous after registering?

Yes, in the ordinary sense of using a pseudonym publicly. Other members see the nickname and profile information you choose to publish. Your registration email is used for verification and recovery; it is not a public profile field. You do not need to put a legal name, workplace, social handle, or other identifying detail in your profile.

There is an important limit: pseudonymous does not mean invisible to the service. Registered and guest connections are both subject to the same operational connection-metadata handling described in the Privacy Notice. FlirtLabz may retain details such as nickname, account name, connection times, and protected IP metadata for operations, safety, and abuse handling. The notice also explains that channel and private-message content is not logged.

How credentials are handled

  • The Community registration and sign-in pages pass your password to NickServ for authentication; Community does not store that password.
  • Use a unique password that you do not reuse on email, Discord, or another site.
  • Protect the email account used for recovery, ideally with its own strong password and multi-factor authentication.
  • Sign out on shared devices and avoid saving credentials in a browser profile other people can open.

What private or incognito browsing removes

Private browsing is useful when you do not want chat choices left in a normal browser profile. It also means the browser will normally discard its cookies and local storage after the last private window closes.

Nickname ownership and recovery emailRemembered entry-form details

Which option should I choose?

  • Stay a guest if you only want to drop into public chat and do not need a recoverable identity.
  • Register a nickname if people should recognise you over time, you want Community participation, or you want Services and bouncer features.
  • Use private browsing with a registered account when you want the account benefits without keeping browser preferences on that device; expect to sign in and set local display choices again.
